Exorbitant food prices for produce in northern Canada have forced the people who call those hostile growing environments home to adapt and build.

Greenhouses have been built and fuelled by the knowledge provided by the Northern Farm Training Institute, located in Hay River N.W.T., which teaches agriculture and animal husbandry on its 100-acre campus.

 

Across the northern territories, greenhouses are popping up, putting fresh food on tables, educating people and opening farmer’s markets. There’s a fresh future growing in the Arctic.
